A member of the Iraq national volleyball team’s opposing team expressed their disappointment after losing to India, resulting in a 12th-place finish. They mentioned feeling ashamed on behalf of the people of Iraq, with both the players and technical staff sharing in the defeat.
After the match against India, Hussain Nimir Kamuna expressed his disappointment in the Iraq team’s performance. He acknowledged that the players and committee share the responsibility for the defeat and apologized to the Iraqi people for not meeting their expectations.
Despite this, Kamuna also noted the team’s success in winning a set against Iran and defeating Hong Kong. He thanked his fellow Iraqis for their support and expressed optimism for future competitions, hoping to bring joy to the Iraqi people through their performance.
Kamuna requested that the Iraq Volleyball Federation prioritize the improvement of the country’s infrastructure and players. The 22nd Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, which commenced on August 19 with 17 teams hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in Urmia, will come to a close tomorrow, August 26, with the announcement of the top teams.
