Advancement of Ataei’s Team to the Semifinals of the Asian Clubs Championship
Foolad Sirjan Iranian team secured a decisive victory against their Kuwaiti opponent in the final quarterfinal match, advancing confidently to the semifinals.
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the quarterfinal stage of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Thursday, September 12) with four matches held at the Shahdad Yazd Hall.
Foolad Sirjan Iranian faced Sporting Club (Kuwait) in the last match of this stage, winning three sets to none with scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-17, thereby completing the lineup for the semifinals of this year’s Asian Club Championship.
In the first set, the Foolad team played without their key player, Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, yet demonstrated excellent coordination, winning the set 25-21.
In the second set, under the guidance of coach Ataei, the players returned to the court with great motivation, effectively preventing Sporting Club from scoring. They ultimately won the set with a score of 25-17.
The third set continued with Foolad’s dominant performance, as they utilized flawless serves and receptions to secure another 25-17 victory against their Kuwaiti rivals.
The starting lineup for Foolad Sirjan included Ali Ramazani, Amirhossein Esfandiar, Ali Hajipour, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour, Armin Ghelichniazi, Mohammad Valizadeh, and Mahdi Marandi, who took to the court in black against the white-clad Kuwaiti team.
The match was officiated by Iraqi referee Mousa Salim as the first referee and Indonesian referee Indra Muflih as the second.
As Foolad faced their Kuwaiti opponent at Shahdad Yazd court, fans from Sirjan cheered for their team from both the men’s and women’s sections, proudly waving flags of Foolad Sirjan Iranian.
With this victory, Foolad Sirjan Iranian will face Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia) in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Sporting Club (Kuwait) will continue in the tournament competing for fifth to eighth place.
The teams that have advanced to the semifinals include Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia), Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan), Shahdad Yazd (Iran), and Foolad Sirjan Iranian.
