AVC MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 / Miss you in this Championship

The 22nd edition of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship will start in a few minutes in Urmia, and Iran’s national volleyball team will have to defend its title as the defending champion and host of these competitions, while Morteza Sharifi, an Urmia player, is not with him due to an injury.

The 22nd Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship will start at 13:15 today (Saturday, August 19), and the Iranian national volleyball team will face Hong Kong tomorrow (Sunday, August 20) in its first match.

Behrouz Ataei, the head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team, selected 18 players to participate in this competition after the Nation League and took 17 of them to the final camp of the national team in Urmia, and after a few days of training, Ataei signed names like Bardia. Saadat, Amirhossein Esfandiar, and Mahdi Jelveh will be drawn to determine the 14 main players of the national team.

Regardless of the final list of the national team and the players who missed the line, one person’s name is mostly empty in the final list of the national team. Morteza Sharifi, the Urmia player on the national team, suffered a bad injury, which made him miss the last few games of the national team in the Nation League, and now he is the biggest absentee from the national team list.

The injury that grounded Sharifi in the Nation League spread to the Asian men’s volleyball competitions and prevented him from wearing the national team jersey in his hometown and in front of volleyball-loving fans.

Although the injured players of the national team are absent in these competitions, their positive energy will definitely accompany the national team. We will all work together for the sake of the homeland and for the hoisting of the holy flag of Iran.
