AVC MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 / The first team to make it to the semi-final stage is Japan.
The national volleyball team of Japan secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Asian Men’s Championship by prevailing over Bahrain.
In the ongoing 22nd Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023 in the city of Urmia, Iran, the Japanese national team, who moved ahead from group B after defeating Uzbekistan and Thailand by 3-0, faced Bahrain on Wednesday, 23 August and secured a 3-0 victory.
In an impressive performance, the Japanese team won their match with 25-14, 25-14, and 25-17 scores. This win secures their place in the semi-finals as they aim to become the runner-up in the 2021 tournament.
During the first set, the Bahraini players demonstrated a commendable performance against Japan, scoring up to 10 points. However, the Japanese team employed robust defensive techniques at the net, coordinated their first reception, and effectively passed the ball to the passer. They also utilized quick services, resulting in a score of 25-14 in their favor.
In the second round, Japan utilized the weaknesses of their opponents, particularly in receiving and defending at the net, to maintain a point advantage over Bahrain. They secured a victory with the same score as the first set, winning the field at 25-14.
During the third set, Japan utilized their second team, while the Bahraini team coordinated receptions and improved their coverage on the field. Though they managed to narrow the points gap, Japan ultimately dominated and scored consecutive points, resulting in a 25-17 victory for Japan.
Kum from China was the first referee, and Lee Hyung Fai from Hong Kong was the second referee in charge of judging this match.
By accepting this defeat, the Bahraini team will try to get seventh to twelfth place from tomorrow.
The Japanese national volleyball team is in the semi-finals and will face a team from Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Qatar, or Thailand. The final opponent will be determined on Thursday.
