AVC Men’s U23 Championship/ China Survive Sturdy Challenge from Malaysia
Ardabil, Iran, May 8, 2017 – Towering China overcame a tough task against Malaysia 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-12, 29-27) in the 5th-8th classification match at the SMM 2nd Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship at the 6,000-seater Rezazadeh Indoor Stadium.
Chinese players were amazed by the Malaysians in the first set and after experiencing an opening loss, they made a comeback to close the final three sets. China will battle for the 5th-6th place while Malaysia is to fight for the 7th-8th place tomorrow on Tuesday, the final day of tournament.
Qiyong Zhang, Chinese head coach explained their opening-loss-set after the match: “Malaysians started better than us but we regain confidence from the second set. We lost to Iranian fans yesterday, yet we enjoy to play in this atmosphere. We will do our best tomorrow.”
