Bahauddin Jelani Elected New ANFV President
Mr Bahauddin Jelani was elected the new president of Afghanistan National Volleyball Federation for the next four years 2016-2020 following the Elective General Assembly at Isteqlal Hotel in Kabul on November 3.
ANVF President Dr. Mohammad Yonus Popalzay and new candidate Mr. Bahauddin Jelani, who used to be in the national team player of Afghanistan and now is the president of provincial council and an ANVF member, were the only two candidates standing for election of the ANVF presidency.
However, Dr. Yonus Popalzay requested the meeting attendants to be united and put more efforts for the volleyball development of the ANVF.
After withdrawal of Dr. Yonus, the General Assembly members approved the proposal not to have secret ballot box and ballot voting process as there was only one candidate.
The Assembly unanimously endorsed and elected Mr, Bahauddin Jelani as new ANVF President for next four year 2016-2020 term as per constitution of ANVF.
The Assembly also endorsed proposal of the newly-elected ANVF President Mr. Bahauddin Jelani for Dr, Yonus Popalzay to be the CEO and Mr, Khushal Malikzai to remain ANVF Secretary-General.
After the election, Mr. Jelani had an inspiring speech to the participants and thanked them for their trust to elect him as the president of Afghanistan http://asianvolleyball.net/2016/11/bahauddin-jelani-elected-new-anvf-president/National Volleyball Federation.
“This is my honor. I am very proud to be a member of sport community especially the member of Afghanistan National Volleyball Federation. I will work hard to develop volleyball throughout the country”.
Mr. Jelani thanked Dr. Yonus for his remarkable work done during his period as the leader of volleyball sport in Afghanistan and Jelani also requested him to work together to develop volleyball further in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yonus expressed his sincere thanks to all board members who had worked hard with him.
“I would like to congratulate Mr. Jelani for being elected the new ANVF President and I also would like to thank the FIVB president Dr. Ary Graca, AVC President Dr. Saleh A. Bin Nasser and AVC Executive Vice President Mr. Essa Hamza for their kind supports and guidance to the Afghanistan Volleyball over the past years. Last but not least, I would like to commit work to Mr. Jelani as I strongly believe that he will show his capability to develop volleyball in Afghanistan.”
