Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia) Secures Third Place in the 2024 Asian Club Championship
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the ranking and final matches of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship will be held today (Sunday, September 15).
Pavlodar (Kazakhstan) and Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia) faced each other at 2 PM in the ranking match. The Indonesian team emerged victorious with a 3-0 win, with set scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-19, securing third place in the competition.
In the first set, the star-studded Indonesian team displayed excellent coordination and defeated their Kazakh rivals 25-15. Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi started the second set with a significant lead, and their fans, seated in the guest team’s section, cheered for Ngapeth and his teammates. The set ended with a 25-14 victory for the Indonesian team.
The third set saw both teams vying for victory, with neither willing to back down. The teams were neck and neck in scoring, but Ngapeth’s teammates ultimately won the set 25-19, securing a 3-0 victory in this crucial match.
On the final day of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship, spectators began entering the Shahdab Yazd exclusive hall one by one before the match started. The two teams faced each other in front of a half-filled stadium.
Ebrahim Firoozi and Alireza Gharib, two Iranian referees, officiated the match as the first and second referees, respectively.
Pavlodar (Kazakhstan) experienced one win against Kuwait and two losses against Shahdab and Indonesia in the preliminary stage. They defeated Kam Air Afghanistan in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. However, they lost to Shahdab Yazd, the host team, in their fifth match, missing out on the final and the world championship.
Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia), one of the championship contenders, had invested heavily in their participation, recruiting two Olympic gold medalists from Paris (Ngapeth and Patry). Despite their efforts, they secured third place. They lost their first preliminary match to Shahdab but went on to defeat the representatives from Kuwait and Kazakhstan. In the quarterfinals, they eliminated Al Rayyan Qatar to reach the semifinals but lost to Foolad Sirjan in the only five-set match of the competition, dashing their hopes for a world championship.
