Second-Week Encounters of Iranian Beach Volleyball Super League Completed

Tehran, Iran, April 18, 2021 – The second week of the Iranian Beach Volleyball Super League, which started on April 7 with 12 teams strutting their stuff, came to a close and due to the major impact from COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be postponed by one week to resume the third week in another city.

The host city for the second-week encounters is yet to be decided by the IRIVF Beach Volleyball Committee, but the efforts are to guarantee safety and health of all the participating athletes and local organizers.

Each team had played three matches in Week 1 and two matches in Week 2, while matches in total are to be held for each team in the preliminary phase. With five matches contested, the remaining six matches of each team will take place in two more weeks before teams will next enter the playoffs.

Iran is seriously organizing the competition with aims of promoting beach volleyball in the country. IRIVF President Dr Mohammad Reza Davarzani said, “Our Beach Volleyball Super League is as important as Volleyball Super League. From my point of view, all the conditions proved that we have all necessary requirements for hosting the Asian beach volleyball events in Iran. We are willing to pave the way for our beach volleyball teams to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time in history.”
