Coaches and Player Reflect on Kam Air vs Sporting Club
Head Coach of Afghanistan: Kam Air Team Faced Many Challenges
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the final stage of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship to determine the fifth to eighth place teams continued today (Saturday, September 14 ) with two matches. The Kam Air team (Afghanistan) and Sporting Club (Kuwait) faced each other at 2 PM to determine the seventh place, with Kam Air defeating Kuwait 3-1 to secure the seventh position in the competition.
Statements from Coaches and Players After the Match:
Hamid Movahedi, Head Coach of Kam Air (Afghanistan):
“Our match today was against the Sporting Club of Kuwait, a very good and well-equipped team. Afghanistan’s team was the weakest in terms of facilities and we faced many challenges to enter this competition. The Afghanistan Volleyball Federation made great efforts to ensure we could participate in the competition so our players could gain valuable experience. The competition level was very high, with top Asian clubs participating powerfully. Some teams had foreign players, while Afghanistan was the only team without foreign players, competing with its national players. Nevertheless, our players gained experience to appear stronger in future competitions. Both finalist teams have a chance to win the championship. They are well-equipped and compete with a good technical staff. However, Shahdab, playing at home, has the advantage of fan presence and thus a higher chance of winning the championship.”
Taner Atik, Head Coach of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“It was a good game. We faced some problems towards the end, but as I mentioned earlier, our goal in participating in this competition was to prepare the team for our league matches, and I think we achieved our goal in this tournament. Everything was very well organized in this competition. I think Shahdab has a better chance.
Sabawoon Gorzan, Libero of Kam Air (Afghanistan):
“The games were very good, and fortunately, we won today and secured the seventh place. I thank the Afghanistan Volleyball Federation and our team sponsor for sending us to this competition under difficult conditions and supporting us in every way to achieve better positions.”
Saud Al-Dawaisan, Middle Blocker of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“It was a tough match for us. We had a few injuries and couldn’t perform well, but we participated to gain readiness and enjoyed the competition. I think both teams have a chance in the final tomorrow, but Sirjan has a better chance.”
