Al Rayyan Coach: Both Teams Were Tired, But We Managed to Win
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the final stage of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship to determine the fifth to eighth place teams continued today (Saturday, September 14) with two matches. Al Rayyan Qatar, the most experienced foreign team participating in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Yazd, concluded their campaign by defeating the representative from Iraq and securing fifth place.
Statements from Coaches and Players After the Match:
Murad Senon, Head Coach of Al Rayyan Sports (Qatar):
“It was an equal game and both teams were exhausted from previous games, but fortunately, we managed to win. I believe both Shahdab and Foolad Sirjan have a chance to win in the final.”
Ala Khalaf, Head Coach of Gas Al Janoub (Iraq):
“First, I congratulate my friend Milad Taghavi for joining the board of the Asian Volleyball Confederation. This appointment will undoubtedly advance Iranian volleyball. Today’s match was very tough, and I congratulate the opposing team. We had a close competition, but the result wasn’t in our favor. I’m very sorry about the refereeing, as a mistake in the second set challenge caused us to lose. I don’t think the refereeing was up to the standard of this competition. Al Rayyan is a very capable team in Asia, and I congratulate them. Regarding the final, I think both teams are very strong, but I believe Shahdab will win.”
Ahmad Jamal Nowaman, Middle Blocker of Al Rayyan Sports (Qatar):
“It was a very tough game, and after eight matches, we were tired, but fortunately, we managed to win. I think Shahdab Yazd, with its complete and coordinated team, can win this championship.”
Ibrahim Madfar Rashid, Middle Blocker of Gas Al Janoub (Iraq):
“In the first match against Al Rayyan, we managed to win in a very good game, but in this match for the fifth and sixth places, we couldn’t play well, and the Qatari representative won. I congratulate them on securing fifth place in this competition. I think Shahdab Yazd, with its home advantage and fan presence, can defeat Foolad Sirjan 3-1 in the final.”
