Coaches and Players Reflect on Foolad Vs Al RayyanFoolad Sirjan Coach: Mousavi Likely to Miss Kuwait Match Due to Injury
Yazd, Iran – The head coach of Foolad Sirjan Iranian, Behrouz Ataei, announced that Seyed Mohammad Mousavi suffered an injury at the beginning of the first set and is expected to miss training for three days, making it unlikely for him to play against Kuwait.
According to the Volleyball Federation’s Communications Department, the third day of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship concluded today (Tuesday, September 10) with four matches at the 6,000-seat Shahdab Yazd hall.
Foolad Sirjan (Iran) and Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) faced off at 8 PM in the final match of the third day, where Sirjan triumphed with a commanding 3-0 victory.
Behrouz Ataei, Head Coach of Foolad Sirjan Iranian (Iran):
“We anticipated a tough match. Al-Rayyan was the second strongest team in the group after Foolad Sirjan and had a challenging time after losing to Gas Al-Janoub. The Qatari team played well, and we knew that if we lost a set, Al-Rayyan and Afghanistan would switch places in the standings. We could have given them a set to change their ranking, but we focused on playing our best, and fortunately, our players performed well, leading to our victory. Seyed Mohammad Mousavi got injured at the beginning of the first set, and I am not sure about his current condition. A thorough examination is needed to determine his status. However, I think he will miss training for three days and is unlikely to be in the lineup against Kuwait.”
Amir Hossein Esfandiar, Power Receiver of Foolad Sirjan Iranian (Iran):
“Fortunately, Foolad Sirjan Iranian managed to win 3-0 against Qatar. We were away from volleyball for six months, but we tried to improve match by match and reached the condition desired by the technical staff. The result we achieved in the group stage is undoubtedly the result of the efforts of the players, technical staff, and Sirjan fans. The level of the Asian Club Volleyball Championship has been good so far. Except for the first match against Afghanistan, which had a significant difference, the matches against Iraq and Qatar were intense. We tried to neutralize the opposing teams by implementing technical points. In volleyball, no team can be underestimated, especially in this tournament where we must focus on reaching the final and give our best from start to finish. We will give our all and hope to overcome Kuwait and reach the final four.”
Morad Sennoun, Head Coach of Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar):
“We did not start well against Foolad Sirjan Iranian today, but we managed to play well in the third set. If we can play like the third set against Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia, we have a chance to win. The match against Indonesia will undoubtedly be tough.”
Stevanovic Milos, Setter of Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar):
“We played better today compared to the previous day and managed to serve better. What we have not mentioned much is the loss of our two middle blockers, forcing us to replace them with two young players who are improving match by match. The next match against Indonesia, which has two Olympic stars, will undoubtedly be tough, but with the experiences we have gained, I am confident we can perform well.”
