Coaches and Players Reflect on Indonesia Vs Qatar
The head coach of Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia) stated, “We will gradually prepare ourselves for the final match, and we have a separate strategy for each game.”
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the quarterfinals of the 26th Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship continued today (Thursday, September 12) with four matches held at the 6,000-seat Shahdad Yazd Sports Hall.
In the first quarterfinal match at 11 AM, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi faced Al Rayyan (Qatar), winning decisively with a score of 3-0, thus becoming the first team to advance to the semifinals.
After the match, coaches and players from both teams shared their thoughts:
Alfonso Gonzales, Head Coach of Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia):
“In this match, we followed our tactics well and worked on resolving our issues through study. I believe we are improving with each game, and we are gradually preparing ourselves for the final. We have specific plans for each match, and I am confident that we will have a strong performance against the Iranian representative in the next round.”
Morad Sennoun, Head Coach of Al Rayyan Sports (Qatar):
“We did not play well, especially in the first two sets. In the third set, we tried to improve with some transition, but they did not yield results, and we did not perform well in this competition. The referees also took some time to make decisions, which ultimately affected our game.”
Jean Patry, Opposite Spiker of Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi (Indonesia):
“It was a good match, and we served well. All players put in their best effort. It is important for players to showcase their best performance, and we accomplished that today. My teammate Ngapeth and I just finished the Olympics three weeks ago, and it’s natural to take some time to restart our body. The upcoming match against Sirjan will be tough as they have performed well and possess strong players. Naturally, we expect a challenging game in the semifinals. I didn’t have the chance to explore Yazd, but I know it’s a historical city. After yesterday’s visit, we had a great meeting at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the rice with chicken.”
Louis Andre, Setter of Al Rayyan Sports (Qatar):
“Unfortunately, we were unable to achieve our goal of reaching the semifinals. Now, there is nothing we can do but focus on future competitions.”
