Coaches and Players Reflect on Qatar and Indonesia
The head coach of Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) stated that the team is focused on taking it one game at a time, with the immediate goal of preparing to reach the semifinals.
According to the communications department of the Volleyball Federation, on the second day of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship (Monday, September 9), Al Rayyan faced Kam Air (Afghanistan) and secured a 3-1 victory.
Following the match, coaches and players from both teams shared their thoughts:
Morad Sennoun, Head Coach of Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar):
“It was not a good game and have not yet reached our desired level. We are improving game by game, and fortunately, we managed to win today. Al Rayyan is focused on one game at a time, and right now, our goal is to prepare ourselves to advance to the semifinals.”
Hamid Mohammadi, Head Coach of Kam Air (Afghanistan):
“We have been training with Kam Air for about 25 days. The conditions and facilities are very weak; we do not have good resources. However, we did our best to prepare the team, but there wasn’t enough time because the competition level is very high. The best club teams in Asia are here, featuring prominent players from around the world. Our presence here is to prepare ourselves for future matches.”
Stevanovic Milos, Setter for Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar):
“In the first match, we were surprised by the opponent’s style of play and lost to Iraq. However, we performed better today than yesterday, and Afghanistan also showed good form. We aim to improve game by game.”
Sabawoon Ghorzang, Libero for Kam Air (Afghanistan):
“We did not perform well in the first match, but today we were able to show improvement and won the second set. In the first, third, and fourth sets, we couldn’t overcome our opponent due to some technical issues. We had limited preparation time, which affected our performance.”
Kaliberda Denis, Outside Hitter for Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar):
“The Afghan team fought hard today and put on a good performance. Our goal is to improve in upcoming matches, but two strong Iranian teams are present in this competition, making things challenging for us.”
