Coaches and Players Reflect on Shahdab vs Sporting Club Match
The head coach of the Shahdab Yazd volleyball team stated, “Today, the players created moments that energized the arena. We will continue with all our best to achieve first place.”
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the third day of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Tuesday, September 10) with four matches at the 6,000-seat Shahdab Yazd hall. The teams of Shahdab Yazd (Iran) and Sporting Club (Kuwait) faced off at 5 PM in the third match of the third day, with the Yazd representative decisively defeating their opponent 3-0.
Comments from Coaches and Players After the Match:
Rahman Mohammadi-Rad, Head Coach of Shahdab Yazd (Iran):
“Congratulations to all the fans. The group stage is over, and we tried to get through these three matches well to prepare the team for the knockout stage. Although I didn’t use Amir Ghafour in today’s game, no other player can replace him. He is an exception in Iranian volleyball. Ghafour has been working hard for our national team for years. Mohsen Delavari also worked very hard, and I tried to reward his efforts by selecting him for the Asian Club Championship. He has good potential and experience, and what better opportunity than the Asian Club Championship? Many of the players in the match are experiencing their first presence in the Asian Club Championship. As a coach, I have only had the opportunity to participate in the Asian Club Championship once. The next game against Gas Iraq is not an easy one. We are here to make the fans happy. Today, the players created moments that energized the arena. We will continue with all our power to achieve first place. The young players in the Asian Club Championship should appreciate this opportunity and enjoy every moment of it.”
Masoud Gholami, Captain of Shahdab Yazd (Iran):
“I want to say well done to all the players of the Shahdab team. We had three relatively tough games against Indonesia, Kuwait, and Kazakhstan, each of which came to achieve good results. However, with the good teamwork we have done in the past few months, we were able to get good results and confidently enter the next stage. Our next opponent is not yet known, but there is definitely no easy opponent in this tournament. Every game has its own difficulties. I hope we can play well with the unity of the team and advance to the next stage. We can’t talk about the final so soon, but we would like two Iranian teams to be the finalists in this tournament and both teams to enter the Club World Championship.”
Alireza Mosleh Abadi, Middle Blocker of Shahdab Yazd (Iran):
“First of all, I thank all the good and warm-hearted Yazdi spectators. With their support, we were able to go to the playoffs with three wins and a full 9 points in the group stage. I hope we continue the same way in the playoffs and win the championship for the first time in the Asian Club Championship for Shahdab Yazd. I thank the people of Yazd, the executive staff, and the officials who worked hard. I hope we achieve good results in the playoffs.”
Taner Atik, Head Coach of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“Today we had the toughest game because we played against the host team. They made some changes in the game, and the opponent also had some substitutions because we have to think about the future and give some of our players a rest. I need to thank my young players. They played an excellent game against experienced players, and I am grateful to them.”
Nawaf AlSANEA, Opposite Hitter of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“Shahdab is definitely one of the best clubs in Asia. We tried our best in this game but couldn’t win. I think we will play against Al-Rayyan or Foolad Sirjan in the next stage. We will do our best to reach the semi-finals.”
