Coaches and Players Reflect on the Match Between Kuwait and Kazakhstan Representatives
The head coach of Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan) stated that the first match always comes with its unique challenges and is often filled with mistakes for both teams.
According to the communications department of the Volleyball Federation, the 26th Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship commenced today (Sunday, September 8) at 11 AM with a match between Sporting Club (Kuwait) and Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan) at the 6,000-seat Shahediyeh Hall in Yazd. The Kazakh representative secured a 3-1 victory in a match lasting 145 minutes. Coaches and players from both teams shared their thoughts after the game:
Geribov Sergei, Head Coach of Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan):
“This was our first game, and as always, the first match comes with its specific difficulties and is filled with mistakes for both teams. However, we managed to win this match, and we are always trying to achieve the best results in future competitions. The court is excellent.”
Roman Fartov, Captain and Libero of Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan):
“The first game in any tournament has its own challenges and brings a lot of stress. Nevertheless, we were able to win thanks to the collaboration of all the players and secure the necessary points from this match.”
Taner Atik, Head Coach of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“This was our team’s first game. Kazakhstan played better than Kuwait because they were physically more prepared than us. The main difference in this match was that the Kazakh team performed better in serving.”
Fernando Hernandez, Setter of Sporting Club (Kuwait):
“I would like to thank Iran and the city of Yazd for hosting this tournament. I had not previously participated in Asian club championships, so I have no prior experience regarding these matches. Overall, our team had little time to prepare and was invited to this competition at the last minute. We only had eight days for practice; however, most players have played for the national team, and we are very happy to be here. We aim to continue performing at our best. Our upcoming matches will be tougher, so we are trying to present a strong performance and strive for victory. The level of competition is very high; the Qatari team has previously played in Turkey, while Indonesia has two very high-quality French players. I am also familiar with the Iranian team, which has excellent players, making the level of competition very elevated.”
