Playoff in Day 1 completed with five-set thriller matches
Tehran, Iran, February 23, 2021 – The top eight teams of the preliminary-round secured their berths to the playoff round, which is running at the Federation Hall from February 23 to 26.
In the first day of playoff, Sirjan Foulad and Sepahan Foulad could beat their rivals in five-setter thriller.
In the debut match of the day, Sirjan and Saipa as the fourth and fifth teams fought for almost three hours. Sirjan Fould could make up their last two losses against Saipa in weeks 12 and 21 of the preliminary round. Their previous two 3-1 losses could help them thrashing Saipa in the playoffs in a hard-fought contest.
In the second match, Sepahan Fould seems to have an easy task against Varamin Shahrdari as they could beat them twice in the preliminary round.
Sepahan went into five sets to overcome the fighting Varamin Shahrdari that entered the court with winning approach.
The next four teams of the playoff would start their matches on Wednesday in day 2 for the away round.
Each team will have to play the other side in home-and-away matches. Winning both matches will secure the team a berth in the Final Four. However, if both teams share one win apiece, the third match will be held on February 27-28 in the best-of-three format to decide the winning team.
