2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship

The 18^th Asian Men’s Club Championship will be held from June 18 to July 6 in two cities of “Nam Dinh” & “Ninh Binh” in Vietnam. Sarmayeh Bank is going to have his second Asian participation as a club.

Six clubs of Paykan, Sanam, Saipa, Mazandaran Kaleh, Varamin Matin, and Sarmayeh Bank have already experienced participation in Club Championship.

Thirteen teams will take their chance in 2017, the pooling of which are:

 

Pool A: Vietnam Sports Club (Vietnam), Al-Bahri (Iraq), Sri Lanka Ports Authority Sports Club (Sri Lanka),

Pool B: Sarmayeh Bank (Iran), Taipei (Chinese Taipei)

Pool C: Al Arabi Sports Club (Qatar), Altay VC (Kazakhstan), Yan Chai (Hong Kong), Canberra Heat (Australia)

Pool D: Toyoda Gosei Trefuerza (Japan), China Beijing Baic Motor (China), Maldivian Sport & Recreation Club (Maldives), Air Force VC (Thailand)

 

The volleyball club of Sarmayeh Bank will face Chinese Taipei on the debut match on June 28. Since pool B is composed of only these two teams, Both Iran, and Taipei have sealed the berth to the next round, and the match will just determine the rank of the table as the first and second teams.

The 17^th Asian Men’s Club Championship last year was held with 15 participating teams in Myanmar where Sarmayeh Bank crowned the championship.

 

Iran & Paykan, the Honorable Teams of Asia

 

The first Asian Men’s Club Championship took place in 1999 in China. The various candidate clubs of Iran have already recorded 18 medals including 11 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.

Paykan with 11 medals including 7 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals is the most honorable team of Asia.

Sanam (with 1 gold, 1 silver), Varamin Matin (with 1 gold in 2014), Saipa (with 1 silver in 2005), Sarmayeh Bank (with 1 gold in 2016), and Mazandaran Kaleh (with 1 gold in 2013 & 1 bronze in 2012) conquer the next ranks.

Iran could not manage to obtain the medal in 2011 noting that AVC gave halt to the tournament in 2003. In some editions, Iran had two representative teams.

South Korea (with 2 gold, 1 silver) is the second honorable team of Asia following Iran. Qatar is on the third place (with 1 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze). The next ranks will respectively go to Kazakhstan (with 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze), China, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Indonesia.

 

A Snapshot at 2016

The 17^th Asian Men’s Club Championship last year was held with 15 participating teams in Myanmar where Sarmayeh Bank crowned the championship with the 3-1 win over Qatar Al-Arabi.

Four players of Iran awarded the Individual Prize.  Mahdi Mahdavi, Sayed Mohammad Mousavi, Milad Ebadipour, and Shahram Mahmoudi respectively entitled the best setter, the best blocker, the best receiver, and MVP.

The top three teams of the Asia Last year were Iran Sarmayeh Bank, Qatar Al Arabi, and Japan TOYODA.
