The 19th Asian Sr. Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held in Manila, Philippine where the national team of Iran is going to experience her sixth participation.
As the public relations of volleyball federation reported, the 19th Asian Sr. Women’s Volleyball Championship will take place in Manila, Philippine, 9-17 August.
Fourteen teams will participate in this tournament, the seeding of which is as follows:
Pool A: Philippine, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong
Pool B: China, Japan, Australia
Pool C: South Korea, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, New Zealand
Pool D: Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Iran, Maldives
The Path of Iranian Women Since 2007
The first Asian Volleyball Championship was held in Melbourne, Australia in 1975 when Japan crowned the championship. Since then, four countries of Australia, China, Japan, and South Korea have always been participating in all editions.
The national women volleyball team of Iran have experienced their first presence in Thailand in 2007 when they claimed the 12th. Iran have recorded a four-time eighth place in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015.
China, An Unbeatable Rival
The national women of China is the honorable team of Asia that is it will take 13 editions for Iranian women to get to their record. Chinese women own many prestigious world and Olympic titles as well as 13 gold medal of Asian Championship. In the last 18 editions, China stepped onto the podium for 17 times (13 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) and the only failure was the fourth place in 2013.
The next best ranks of Asia will go to Japan (3 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze), Thailand (2 gold, 3 bronze), and South Korea (7 silver, 8 bronze). Kazakhstan with one bronze medal stay as the Asian medalist.
Last edition was held in China in 2015 and the first four teams were respectively the host China, South Korea, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei. The next places went to Vietnam, Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Australia, India, Mongolia, Philippine, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka.
Thailand with the Most Hosting
Eight countries have so far hosted the Asian tournament out of which Thailand with five hosting made the highest record. China with four, Hong Kong with three, and Vietnam with two hosting stood in the next ranks.
Philippine, Australia, Japan, and Chinese Taipei took the first-ever hosting experience while Philippine is adding one more to its number this year make it tie with Vietnam.
it is noteworthy to add that Thailand is going to host the Asian women Tournament in 2019 to stay unrivaled in hosting experience.
