Iranian Women in World Qualification Tournament
The national volleyball team of women will face the tough world’s teams in their first assessment to earn the world sport.
As the Public Relations of volleyball federation reported, a total of 24 teams will contest the next year’s FIVB Women’s World Championship Finals in Japan from September 30 to October 21, 2018.
Asia has four tickets in addition to the host Japan that are to undergo qualification process. The second that is the final qualification round will be held within two pools of A & B each with five teams therein. Pool A will be hosted in Kazakhstan while Thailand will host the other five teams of pool B. The seeding is as follows:
Pool A: China, Kazakhstan (host), Chinese Taipei, Australia, Fiji
Pool B: South Korea, Thailand (host), DPR Korea, Vietnam, I.R.I. Iran
The national team of Iran succeeded in their first qualification round in Central Asian Zone reaching to the final round.
World No.10 South Korea, Asian silver medalists Thailand, DPR Korea, Vietnam and Iran will take part in the single round-robin competition, with only the two best-ranked teams making the cut for the next year’s World Championship Finals in Japan.
Employing the Young Players in Women Team
The national federation of Iran put the priority on using the young players in world qualification tournament in “Nakhon Pathom” this is why some changes is made in the composition of Iran team.
Competing with Asian teams had been always a challenge for Iranian women team because the Olympic and World Champions are from Asia.
Iran aims to strengthen the infrastructures by using the younger players to play along with older ones to set up the very first steps toward new volleyball generations.
A total of 24 teams will contest the next year’s FIVB Women’s World Championship Finals in Japan, eleven of which have qualified.
Qualifying tournaments are held within the five FIVB Confederations (AVC, CAVB, CEV, CSV and NORCECA) to determine the 23 participants who will join Japan.
As per the FIVB sports regulations, the number of spots awarded by the FIVB for each confederation for the next World Championships is as follows:
AVC (Asia): Japan (host) + 4
CAVB (Africa): 2
CEV (Europe): 8 (Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Azerbaijan, Germany, the Netherland, Bulgaria)
CSV (South America): 2 (Brazil + ?)
NORCECA (North, Caribbean and Central America): 6 + World Champion 2014 (USA)
