The 17th edition of the World Men’s Club Volleyball Championship will begin on Wednesday, December 7, with the participation of six teams, hosted by the city of Betim, Brazil
Paykan Tehran team, the proudest volleyball team in Iran, which won the Premier Volleyball League for the 12th time in 1400 and celebrated the ninth championship in the ancient continent of Asia in 2022, is one of the six teams participating in this competition
** The first world experience of three clubs
In addition to Paykan team, five other teams include Perugia of Italy (the third team of Europe), Vôlei Renata of Brazil (the third team of South America), Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei of Brazil (the host and champion of South America), Itambé Minas of Brazil (the runner-up of South America) and Trentino Itas of Italy. (European runner-up) are present in this year’s competition
The teams of Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei with a history of nine appearances, Trentino Itas with eight appearances who have always been on the podium, and Paykan Tehran with four appearances are the experienced teams of this tournament
This year’s competition is considered to be a battle between the world’s most experienced teams and three teams that are participating for the first time, because Perugia, Vôlei Renata and Itambé Minas teams are participating in the World Club Championship for the first time
** History of World Club Championship
The World Club Volleyball Championship started in 1989 and was held for four consecutive years. After a 16-year break (1993 to 2008), these competitions started again in 2009 and have been followed up every year until now, and only in 2020, due to the outbreak of Corona, these competitions were not held
From a regional point of view, the representatives of the European continent with 12 championships, 11 vice-championships and 11 third titles are the most proud of these competitions, and after Europe, the representatives of South America are in the second place of honorees with 12 medals, including four gold, four silver and four bronze
The representatives of the Asian continent have been on the podium only twice in the World Club Volleyball Championship, in 2010 Paykan team won the bronze medal, and in 2014 Al Rayyan Qatar won the runner-up title of this tournament
** The sixth hosting of the city of Betim
In the last 16 editions of the World Club Volleyball Championship, four countries have hosted it, with Brazil hosting eight more editions, six of which have been held in Betim
Qatar has hosted these competitions for four times (2012-2009) and Italy has hosted three times. Poland is also the fourth country to have hosted the World Men’s Club Volleyball Championship with two hosts
** Al-Ryan is the most worthy representative of Asia
In the last 16 rounds of the World Club Volleyball Championship, 14 representatives from the ancient continent of Asia participated in these competitions, and Al-Ryan won the best title by winning the runner-up position in 2014
Also, in 2010, Tehran’s Paykan team won the bronze medal of this competition, and in other periods, Asian representatives have not been on the podium
Japan, South Korea, Qatar and Iran are the four Asian countries whose representatives have participated in the volleyball world championship
Paykan Tehran with four periods of attendance in 2009 (fourth place), 2010 (bronze medal), 2011 (joint fifth place) and 2015 (fourth place), Kale Mazandaran 2013 (eighth place), Matin Varamin 2014 (sixth place), Sarmayeh Bank 2017 (joint 7th), Khatam Ardakan 2018 (joint 7th) and Fulad Sirjan Iranian 2021 (sixth) were the other representatives of Iran in the world men’s club volleyball championships who participated in these competitions as the champions of the Asian continent
This year (2022), Paykan team of Tehran will participate in this competition for the fifth time
** Preliminary stage grouping
the preliminary stage of the 2022 World Club Volleyball Championship is as follows, after the end of the group stage, the first and second teams of each group will advance to the semi-final stage:
First group: Italy’s Perugia (third team in Europe), Vôlei Renata of Brazil (third team of South America) and Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei of Brazil (host and champion of South America)
Second group: Paykan Tehran (Asian champion), Itambé Minas of Brazil (South American runner-up) and Italy’s Trentino Itas (European runner-up)
After the preliminary round, the first and second teams of the two groups will face each other crosswise so that the winning teams advance to the final match and the losing teams advance to the classification match

10 matches of the 2022 World Men’s Club Volleyball Championship will be held in Braga Hall in Betim, Brazil. The preliminary round of these competitions will be followed with 6 matches and the semi-final and final stages will be followed with four matches
Braga Hall in Betim has a capacity of 6,000 spectators, and considering the interest of the Brazilian people in volleyball, it is expected that these matches will be well received

Italy’s “Trentino” club is the most important opponent of Paykan in the preliminary stage with five gold medals and three bronze medals, the most proud club in men’s volleyball competitions in the world
“Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei” club is also in the second place of this statistical data with four gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze, and this year it will be the defending champion of this competition
