Al Rayyan Qatar Secures Fifth Place in Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship
Al Rayyan Qatar, the most experienced foreign team participating in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Yazd, concluded their campaign by defeating the representative from Iraq and securing fifth place.
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the final stage of the 26th Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship to determine the fifth to eighth place teams continued today (Saturday, September 23) with two matches.
Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) and Gas Al Janoob (Iraq) faced each other at 5:10 PM to determine the fifth place. Al Rayyan emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, with set scores of 20-25, 27-25, 25-17, and 28-26, securing the fifth position in the competition.
In the first set, Gas Al Janoob Iraq fought hard and won 25-20. The second set was closely contested, but Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) managed to win 27-25. In this set, Radchenko Gleb, the opposite spiker for Gas Al Janoub (Iraq), received a yellow card from referee Akhmetov Aidos for protesting against the referee’s decision.
The third set began with the dominance of Murad Senon’s students, who, with better coordination than the previous two sets, won 25-17. Both teams were neck and neck in the fourth set, but Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) managed to win 28-26, securing fifth place in the competition.
Akhmetov Aidos from Kazakhstan and Hamed Aqabarari from Afghanistan were the first and second referees for this match, respectively.
Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar), initially a championship contender, lost to Gas Al Janoob an Foolad Sirjan in the preliminary stage, with their only win against Kam Air. In the quarterfinals, they lost to Jakarta, leading them to compete for the fifth to eighth places. The Qataris defeated the representative from Kuwait in the semifinals and secured fifth place by defeating their final opponent.
Gas Al Janoob (Iraq) defeated Al Rayyan in the preliminary stage but experienced two losses against Foolad Sirjan and Kam Air. In the quarterfinals, they lost to Shahdab Yazd, preventing them from reaching the top four. In the semifinals, they defeated Kam Air Afghanistan but settled for sixth place after losing to Qatar in their final match.
Thus, with the conclusion of this match, Al Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) secured fifth place, Gas Al Janoob (Iraq) secured sixth place, and Kam Air (Afghanistan) and Sporting Club (Kuwait) secured seventh and eighth places, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that the ranking and final matches of this competition will be held at 2 PM and 5 PM on Sunday, September 15, at the Shahdab Yazd hall.
