FIVB Congress Set Up in Buenos Aires on Workshop Day
FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° was emotionally moved when evaluating the Development Workshop which took on a new format in the spirit of innovation.
Three development sessions focused on National Federation sustainable management, communication/social media and Volleyball Your Way provided an excellent platform for discussion and interaction before Brazil Olympic champion and FIVB Athletes Commission President Giba gave an inspirational speech to the audience.
The 35th FIVB World Congress, which is taking place in Buenos Aires, marks the end of President Graça’s four-year mandate as FIVB President. Volleyball has experienced an impressive surge in popularity since 2012 and is living in a golden era following successful World Championships in both volleyball and beach volleyball and the best ever Olympic Games in Rio.
President Graça is standing unopposed for re-election at Congress in Buenos Aires and is already urging volleyball’s national federations around the world to continue their hard work in building towards a successful future.
“For this congress to be successful, the communication must go in every direction. Many of you have great stories about the ways you have developed volleyball and beach volleyball in your countries. There are great stories about athlete development, about commercial development, about improved governance, about ways to see our sport played in schools and so much more,” he said.
The FIVB today underlined the importance of social media as a platform for communicating and engaging with generations of fans around the world as part of its vision to become the number one family sport entertainment in the world.
FIVB Communications Director Richard Baker explained what platforms the FIVB is using and how the participants can benefit from these platforms and the respective content before a panel of federation representatives advised national federations on how to activate the right communications / social media platform.
Mr. Baker encouraged federations to be active on social media in order to spread the sport of volleyball around the world, especially to the younger generation before explaining which social media platforms the FIVB is active on and what content is available for federations to use.
