FIVB President Arrives in Bangkok for 22nd AVC General Assemly
Bangkok, Thailand, November 12, 2017 – FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graca arrived in Bangkok on Sunday afternoon to attend the 22nd AVC General Assembly, which is due to be held at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre Hotel here between November 14 and 15.
Upon his arrival at the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Dr Ary Graca received a warm welcome from Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association, who gave the FIVB President a fragrant jasmine garland. TVA Secretary-General Mr Jaksuwan Tocharoen was also there to welcome him with great joy.
On November 14, Dr Ary Graca is scheduled for a bi-lateral meeting with AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser at Lotus Suite Room No.10. The FIVB President is also due to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 22nd AVC General Assembly the following day at the Lotus Suite Room 1-4, where he will deliver the FIVB Presidential Speech. At the end of the two-day meeting, Dr Ary Graca is expected to join the Thai Touch Dinner Party for all delegates hosted by the TVA.
Following the previous assembly meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia two years ago, the 22nd AVC General Assembly will be held to approve the agendas and minutes of the previous AVC General Assembly, to review tasks managed by the AVC Zonal Associations and proposals presented by the Technical Committees and Council as well as to exchange and share ideas between the federations and prepare comprehensive AVC’s development plans for future growth of the sport in the continent.
AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser will preside over the opening ceremony on November 15, with AVC Executive Committee Members including AVC Executive Vice-President Mr Essa Hamza, FIVB and AVC Honorary Life President Mr Wei Jizhong and FIVB Executive Vice-President Mrs Rita Subowo, AVC Board of Administration Members and representatives from AVC affiliated national federations in attendance.
A total of 75 delegates and representatives from 47 out of 65 federations have already confirmed their participation in the 22nd AVC General Assembly comprising 10 federations from the Central Zone, 9 from Oceania, 8 from Eastern Zone and 10 apiece from Southeast Asia and Western Zone.
Arrival of all affiliated federation delegates is due on November 13, while meetings between FIVB President Dr Ary Graca and AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser, as well as meeting between AVC and CEV Families and the AVC Executive Committee Meeting will take place the following day. The 22nd AVC General Assembly with four-session meeting will be held on November 15, with departure of all affiliated federation delegates being scheduled for November 16.
