Foolad Sirjan Also Reached 9 Points
Yazd, Iran – In their third preliminary match of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, Foolad Sirjan decisively defeated the experienced Al-Rayyan Qatar team, setting the stage for the next round with a victory.
According to the Volleyball Federation’s Communications Department, the third day of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship concluded today (Tuesday, September 10) with four matches at the 6,000-seat Shahdab Yazd hall.
Foolad Sirjan (Iran) and Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) faced off at 8 PM in the final match of the third day, where Sirjan triumphed with a commanding 3-0 victory.
Sirjan team won the match with scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-23, advancing to the next stage as the top team in their group with 9 points, remaining undefeated like their fellow Iranian representative.
In the first set, Sirjan’s stars took to the court to prevent the success of Al-Rayyan team. Strong defense by Ataei’s player was a major factor in the Qatari team’s failure. However, after a few points, Sirjan captain Seyed Mohammad Mousavi felt knee pain due to a collision with Esfandiar and was substituted by Armin Ghelichniazi upon the coach and medical staff’s decision. Despite this setback, Ataei’s player managed to win the set 25-18.
In the second set, Sirjan increased the point gap from the start, leaving the Qatari team with no chance. Sirjan’s solid defensive wall was a key factor in blocking the Qatari attacks, and the team’s good cooperation led to a 25-16 victory in this set.
Ataei’s players gave no opportunity to the Qatari team in the third set, completing their dominance flawlessly. The good coordination among Sirjan players contributed to their success, resulting in a 25-23 victory in this set.
With this defeat, Al-Rayyan dropped one place in the standings to third position.
At the end of the preliminary stage, Foolad Sirjan and Shahdab Yazd are the only teams to advance to the next stage undefeated with 9 points.
Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour, Mohammad Valizadeh, Amirhossein Esfandiar, Ali Ramazani, Ali Hajipour, and Mahdi Marandi were the starting lineup for Sirjan against the Qatari team, wearing white jerseys against the Qatari black-clad team.
The final match of the third day was officiated by Indra Muflih from Indonesia and Mousa Salim Aziz from Iraq as the first and second referees, respectively.
Approximately 1,000 spectators watched the Foolad Sirjan vs. Al-Rayyan match from the stands of the 6,000-seat Shahdab Yazd hall.
With this victory, Foolad Sirjan will face Sporting Club (Kuwait), the fourth-placed team in the opposite group, after a day’s rest in the next stage.
