Haraz, Urmia Join Sirjan, Sepahan in Final Four of Iran Men’s Super League

Tehran, Iran, February 28, 2021 – Amol Haraz and Urmia Shahrdari joined Sirjan Foulad and Sepahan Foulad in the final four of Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League after winning the decider in the playoff round at Volleyball Federation Hall on Sunday.

In the opening match of the day, Amol Haraz, which finished the preliminary round with 18 wins against eight losses while winning first match and losing the second match against Yazd Shahdab in the play-offs could overwhelm them 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 16-25, 25-23) in the decider to be the semifinalist.

Alavi turned in another great effort in the Haraz’s victory with 16 points in the final match of Playoff.

In the second decider match of the playoff, Urmia Shahrdari needed five sets (26, 24, 25-18, 24-26, 18-25, 17-15) to get past Gonbad Shahrdari and advance into the semis.

Meysam Salehi scored a match-high 32 points for Urmia Shahrdari while Ehsan Daneshdoust chipped in 22 points for Gonbad Shahrdari.

The format of the semifinal matches is the same as the playoff so that each team should play twice against one single opponent and the winner of both matches will move up to the final round. In case teams are equal in the number of wins, the third match will be the decider to spot the finalists.
