Ilya: Six Olympic Players Came to Kish Island
Ilya Volodarskiy, the FIVB Technical Supervisor had his impression on the first day of Kish Island 3star. He believed “the organizers are doing a great job. Unfortunately, the court is the same as the last year but we are having some improvements. First of all, some new technologies are being used. Court equipment are better. You can see two big videos around the court. These are good changes.”
He found the stars helpful in attracting professional players as he said: “From my side, the most important thing is level of the teams started to be better because they received positive feedback from last year. This year, we have eighteen new teams from all over the world from Australia to Canada to USA. There are six players here from Olympic Rio and this is good. This means they like the tournament, the atmosphere, and respect the organizer. These are all the result of the last year. I hope next year, it would be better and better.”
He further elaborated on the purposed FIVB is following: “The FIVB targets to promote beach volleyball as the biggest family sport in the world. FIVB accommodated the biggest number of national federations. So, we are seeking to create better situation for families to enter the court or stay by it.”
As Russia took the chance earning vice-championship last year, he had his wish to see Russia in good rank: “Russia has got four teams in the main draw in the same way as Iran. I wish them both Success. No one knows what will happen. I set no prediction right now.”
