Iran broke the winning chain of Serbia in tie-breaker
A stunning all-round performance by Mousavi who scored 16 Points for Iran broke their winning dominance by brining 3-2 loss to the unbeaten Serbia (16-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14) while Ivovic take the best scorer with 19 points for Serbia.
As the public relations of volleyball federation reported, In the first set, the stunning performance of Mohammad Mousavi could not make up the mistakes made by Iran team and Serbia lead 5-8. Although Serbia already qualified to the final six, they came to Tehran with all their powers to stay unbeaten. This is why Iran could no more tolerate the power serves of Atanasijevic and lost it to the opponent 18-25.
Lozano did his attempt to change the plan as some substitutions were made. Mobasheri came in to assist the team to come back to the match after Serbia was in lead in the first technical time out. The difference reduced as Iran made one point down in the second technical time out. The home crowd went stunned as Zarini made it level in 20-20 for Iran. Garbic called time out as was down 22-24 to stop Iran to take the last point but Finally Mousavi closed the match 25-22.
The fourth set was not any copy of Serbian matches as Iran lead 8-7 with long shots running ahead. Over 12000 fans were so high that made it for anyone interesting to watch such a tough moments. The points were changing one after another side in side that Iran lead the second TTO 16-15. Garbic called the changes for libero and Majstrovic earned the point equal but again the rally set up one in one. Down in 20-22, Serbia called a time-out. Any working plan left the Serbian disappointed and Iran closed the set 25-23.
Iran stepped into the court with an improving confidence and clinched the opening points but this was Serbia that take the lead in 8-6. Iran headed up in 11-9 and timeout were inevitable to be called by Garbic. It worked and Serbia retrieved two loss points made it equal in 11-11. Iran lead the match as the fans were on the edge of their seats waiting to see the final decisive point. Breath were imprisoned by any action in and out. Finally the camera recorded the winning score by Iran 16-14.
