Iran stamp supremacy at 2017 Asian Beach Volleyball Championships
Iran’s Rahman Raoufi/Bahman Salemi Injehboroun and Australia’s Louise Bawden/Taliqua Clancy capped their campaigns with gold medal victories at the SMM Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships at Samila Beach on Monday.
The Iranians, who won gold at the 2014 Asian Tour Samila Open, survived the tough challenge of Indonesians Candra Rachmawan/Mohammad Asfiya in a three-set thriller (22-20, 12-21, 15-12) to clinch the men’s title.
“I think we prepared well for this match,” Raoufi said. “We tried to keep our mind fresh and focused in every point because our opponents were very strong. We just wanted to fight until the last point and we are very happy to win the Asian title here. We look forward to coming back next year.”
