Iranian Women Championed Asian Central Zone
The national team of Iran championed the Asian Central Zone in qualification tournament for FIVB Women’s Championship.
As the Public Relations of volleyball federation reported, the first round of qualification tournament for FIVB Women’s World Championship found Iran the winner as Iranian women outperformed the opponent with six points. Iran beat Nepal and Maldives to take the podium from the central Zone and five players of Iran have taken six individual awards at the closing ceremony. Iranian women shall go to the next round of qualification to fight for a ticket out of the four ones.
The 18th FIVB Women’s World Championship will take place in Japan on September 28 to October 19 in Japan with 24 participating teams from all over the world. Three teams have already saved their place: USA as 2014 world champion, Japan as the host and Brazil as 2015 South American champion.
Asia has four tickets in addition to the host one. The four places are to be determined in qualification process. Iran has undergone successfully in the first qualification round. The second round is to run with 10 participating teams that are to be divided into two five-team pools. Kazakhstan host pool A having five teams in rival and the other five teams will have their battle in group B in Thailand.
The final stage of qualification will have China, Kazakhstan, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, North Korea, Chinese Taipei, Iran, and Tango in challenge for four berths.
