Movahedi’s Tactics Pay Off

The Kam Air volleyball team from Afghanistan, under the guidance of their Iranian coach, successfully defeated Gas Al-Janoob from Iraq, thereby avoiding a match against Shahdab Yazd in the first round of the knockout stage.

According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the third day of the Men’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Tuesday, September 11) with four matches held at the 6,000-seat Shahdab Yazd Sports Hall.

Kam Air (Afghanistan), without any wins prior to this match, faced Gas Al-Janoob (Iraq), who had one win and one loss, at 2 PM in the second match of the day.

The Afghan representative won this match 3-0, with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-18, marking their first victory in the tournament. With this win, they secured three points and advanced to the next stage as the third team in their group.

The first set concluded with a score of 25-22 in favor of Kam Air. In the second set, the surprise team of this tournament once again managed to overpower their Iraqi opponent, winning it 25-22.

In the third set, Kam Air continued their dominance, while Gas Al-Janoob failed to rectify their mistakes, resulting in a final score of 25-18 for Kam Air.Hamid Mohammadi, an international coach, led the Kam Air team throughout this match.

It should be noted that with this victory, Kam Air (Afghanistan) ranked their third-place position and will face the second team from Group A after a day of rest, thus avoiding a match against the host team, Shahdab Yazd. Meanwhile, Gas Al-Janoob (Iraq) will have to compete against the first team from Group A following this defeat.

The match was officiated by Faisal Al-Shamiri from Kuwait and Alireza Gharib from Iran, and it attracted an audience of 500 spectators.

In today’s last match, the table-topping team, Foolad Sirjan, will face Al-Rayyan Sports (Qatar) starting at 8 PM.
