Moradi says Iranian volleyball is returning to its peak with solid support
The leader of the Volleyball Federation has underscored the significant support contributed towards the sport and conveyed that Iranian volleyball will soon regain its peak status.
Dr. Vahid Moradi, the esteemed speaker, held a press conference on December 19th at the conference hall of the National Olympic Committee. At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Moradi expressed gratitude towards Dr. Yazdani Khorram for his efforts in transforming Iranian volleyball, thus making it a popular sport on a global scale. Furthermore, Dr. Moradi recognized the referee responsible for promoting Iranian volleyball worldwide. It is noteworthy that volleyball is the singular Iranian sport that has gained worldwide recognition, underscoring its importance. Speculations regarding the referee’s departure have been put to rest with the announcement of the final decision by the Ministry of Sports and Youth and necessary preparations have been made accordingly.
During a Q&A session, Jamshid Hamidi, a seasoned and well-informed volleyball journalist, shared his insights on the current state of volleyball in Iran. Noting that the sport has been prevalent in the country for over a century, he acknowledged the years of success and struggle it has endured. Hamidi also highlighted Dr. Davarzani’s significant contributions to volleyball in Iran and his role in the sport’s prior achievements. However, he expressed concern that the sport is not performing as well as it once did and emphasized the importance of reigniting public interest.
As an expert in this field, Hamidi offered several recommendations. First, he suggested reevaluating the structure of the volleyball federation, emphasizing the need to eliminate self-centeredness within the organization. He further stresses the importance of establishing a welcoming atmosphere for all who engage with the union, viewing it as a home away from home. Hamidi also noted that the federation’s public trust is vital and that reestablishing this trust is essential, as mistrust has been growing in recent years.
In addition to restructuring and rebuilding trust, Hamidi proposed identifying and nurturing ten young players who have the potential to become future stars of the game. Finally, he emphasized the importance of supporting former players who have worked hard for the sport, such as Behnam Jaloh, a former national team captain battling cancer.
Overall, Hamidi’s recommendations reflect his extensive experience and knowledge of the sport and his commitment to ensuring its continued success in Iran.
The strategic plans crafted by the federation are commendable. I sincerely hope we can cooperate to serve our beloved nation effectively, especially in volleyball. P pooling our resources and expertise to achieve common goals would be highly advantageous.
During the recent introduction and honoring ceremony, it was communicated that the volleyball federation fielded eight national teams in various divisions last year. This comprised four teams in the women’s and four in the men’s divisions. The under-16 team achieved the impressive feat of clinching the Asian championship, while the juniors secured the title of vice-champions of the world. Furthermore, they emerged victorious in their match against the Italian youth team, cementing their position as the world champions.
It must be noted that the senior section witnessed occasional setbacks. Had the team persevered and performed well, there would have been no sense of loss. The results were based on errors, and the outcome could have been more favorable. Several factors contributed to the dip in our ranking to 15. However, it is essential to underscore that this should not be construed as a decline in the potential of volleyball. There is significant support for the sport, and it is heartening to know that Iran is a strong proponent of volleyball. Many hope that the younger generation will excel in this sport and it will return to its golden days.
Lastly, about the person in question, we sincerely wish everyone, particularly athletes, enjoy good health. We remain committed to providing our best efforts.
The federation’s top priority is to select the head coach of the national team.
The leader of the volleyball federation has articulated their primary objective as selecting a head coach for the senior national team. Experts concur that Iran’s current classification and scoring conditions pose unfavorable circumstances for securing an Olympic quota, thus warranting a challenging undertaking. Nevertheless, the federation remains resolute in its pursuit and is determined to make every effort to succeed, emphasizing the importance of not conceding defeat in advance. Therefore, selecting a suitable head coach and staff is paramount among the federation’s priorities.
The federation negotiated with 15 prominent volleyball coaches worldwide, including two Iranian options. The technical committee discussed these issues in two meetings, and four options remain. The federation aims to complete the hiring process before the end of the year, and the new head coach will start working next year.
“He continued, stating that many Iranian players play abroad, and the head coach needs to monitor both the domestic and international players. The best players should be selected for the senior national team with priority given to youth.”
