Multinational Qatar is the first victim of Iran in the Olympic qualification.
The Iranian national volleyball team achieved a significant victory by triumphing over the multi-national team from Qatar in their third encounter at the Paris Olympic qualifiers. This win marks a notable achievement for the Iranian team and highlights their dedication and hard work towards their sport.
On Tuesday, October 3, the esteemed Iranian national volleyball team participated in their third match of the competition, pitting their skills against Qatar. The team proudly represents their country in the first group alongside other notable nations, including Brazil (the host team), Italy, Cuba, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Qatar.
The team led by Behrouz Ataei emerged victorious in their opening match with a score of 3-1, as evidenced by the set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, and 25-23.
During the Olympic qualifiers, the Iranian national volleyball team faced Qatar in their third match. Notably, the team made significant changes to their starting lineup, opting for a combination of Mohammad Taher Vadi, Amir Hossein Esfandiar, Mohammad Valizadeh, Saber Kazemi, Maysam Salehi, Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, and Arman Salehi as liberos. This departed from their previous two games and reflects the team’s strategic approach to the competition.
In the initial set of the match between Iran and Qatar, the former team secured the first and second points, though the two groups were tied for the fourth point. However, Mousavi had to exit the court during the eighth point due to back muscle cramps. His replacement, Mehdi Jelveh, secured a service point successfully. The match remained an even contest, with both teams exchanging points until Iran ultimately defeated the multinational Qatar team with a score of 25-23, claiming the first set.
During the commencement of the second set, Iran demonstrated their prowess by scoring two consecutive points. Both teams exhibited equal skill levels, although Iran maintained a slight advantage over Qatar. Regrettably, Ataei’s team could not secure a victory in this set, with a final score of 25-23, thus resulting in parity between the two groups. It is also noteworthy that Shahrouz Homayunfarmanesh was an integral player for Iran during this set.
In Brazil’s third set of Olympic qualifiers, Iran’s national volleyball team exhibited a dominant performance against the Qatari team, securing a 25-17 victory. The team’s success can be attributed to Saber Kazemi’s remarkable contribution, as he scored three consecutive service points in the middle of the set. This victory marks a significant milestone for the Iranian team, as it is their first point in the Olympic qualifiers.
The Iranian team emerged victorious in their debut match, earning three points and placing sixth on the leaderboard. Notably, Mobin Nasri was welcomed onto the team during the fourth set.
The national volleyball team of Qatar uses players from different nationalities, including Serbia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Morocco, Jordan, Syria, Qatar, and Senegal, in the Olympic qualifying competitions in Brazil.
The referees assigned to officiate the Iran vs. Qatar match were Mauranaka Shin and Qandil Wael, hailing from Japan and Egypt, respectively. These individuals brought their expertise and experience to the game, ensuring a fair and unbiased assessment of the teams’ performance. The first of these victories was achieved during the semifinals of the esteemed Hangzhou Asian Games, further cementing Iran’s prowess in the world of professional volleyball.
On Wednesday, October 4th, at 4:30 PM, the Iranian volleyball team will compete against the Czech Republic.
