The head of the medical committee for the Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship stated that, based on the oversight conducted, everything is at an excellent level, and no serious medical issues have arisen during the competition.
According to the communications department of the Volleyball Federation, Gholamreza Norouzi highlighted the efforts made by the medical committee for the tournament, stating that the 26th Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship is being hosted in Yazd at a very high standard, with eight representatives from various Asian countries competing.
Regarding the coordination of the medical team, he added that their colleagues in Yazd and the Volleyball Federation have worked diligently to ensure proper coordination. Medical coverage for both the matches and training sessions, as well as ambulance services and arrangements with hospitals, have been effectively organized, and there are no specific issues to report.
The head of the Sports Medicine Federation also mentioned the measures taken for nutrition and health during the tournament, saying that all aspects have been monitored closely and no serious problems have been identified. He clarified that this includes concerns about food poisoning, gastrointestinal illnesses, and toxic conditions, none of which have been observed.
On injuries sustained during the matches, Norouzi provided details about incidents involving players. During the match between Gas Al-Janoob (Iraq) and Sporting Club (Kuwait), one Iraqi player suffered an ankle injury and was examined at the hospital; his primary treatment will occur upon his return to his home country. Additionally, during the game between Shadab Yazd (Iran) and Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan), a Kazakh player also sustained a foot injury and was promptly transferred to the hospital.
Norouzi emphasized the experience of Iranian officials in organizing such competitions, noting that while it is natural for events of this level to have some shortcomings, Iran has substantial experience in hosting international tournaments.
He also highlighted a key aspect of this edition of the championship being held in Yazd: the role of volleyball at a national level. He praised the decision to host the event in Yazd, given its strong foundation in volleyball both nationally and internationally. He expressed hope that such hosting opportunities will occur across the country, allowing for international competitions to be held in other provinces as well.
The third and final day of the preliminary round of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship will continue today (Tuesday, September 20) with four matches taking place at the dedicated Shadab hall.
