Press Conference of Vladimir Alekno held in Iran
Tehran, Iran, my 18, 2021 – The press conference of the senior men’s national head coach of Iran, Vladimir Alekno was held at Olympic Hotel in Tehran on Tuesday morning.
The press conference was live on Sports TV and it also goes live on YouTube of Iran Volleyball Federation.
Vladimir Alekno answered to the questions of all the press members. Forty journalist were attending the press conference and all the health measures were observed.
He is taking over Iran team because “Iran team is powerful ready to face any opponent without fear. I have selected Iran because I wanted to experience my fourth Olympic presence with this team and I hope I can get a good result. The senior officials of volleyball were very welcoming and comprehended my situation and busy calendar before getting into Iran in a proper way”.
About the 2021VNL as the first upcoming official tournament, he said: “that is funny to guarantee podium. I will use my full measure to fulfill the IRIVF’s goals that I have honor to work for. In my last 25 years of career, I never made such kinds of promises”.
“My working style is surely different from the one in Russia. Iran and Russia are two different teams. More than physical practices, I am working on the team’s mindset. My team is technically favoring a good status and I hope I can improve the mentality of the team. For me, that is important to make players think than warning the technical side to them”, he commented.
Alekno added: “In Kazan, I had a good coordination with Saeid Marouf in Zenit Kazan leading me to achieve various titles”.
Concerning the opponents of Iran, he believed, “most teams would enter the VNL with their main players except for Italy. This is the decision of the head coaches but bear in mind that there are not many possibilities to hold friendly matches and 2021 VNL is a good chance to get ready for Olympic Games and teams should take this tournament as a good opportunity to make analysis and prepare themselves for Olympic Games”.
In response to unfair match schedule of VNL, he said, “eight matches of Iran is in the morning that is not fair. There is no opportunity to complain about it. We have to adapt ourselves with the situation. In Olympic games, most of our matches are in the morning session and that is a good practice for the team”.
