Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) Defeats Kuwaiti Opponent in Semi-Final Match of Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship
Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) triumphed over their Kuwaiti opponent in the second semi-final match of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, setting up a clash with the Iraqi representative for the fifth place tomorrow.
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the sixth day and semi-final stage of the 26th Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Friday, September 13) with four matches at Shahdab Yazd’s exclusive stadium.
Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) and Sporting Club (Kuwait), both having faced defeats in the knockout stage, competed against each other at 2 PM in the second match of the day. The Qatari team won decisively, 3-1, with scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-15, and 25-19, and will compete against Gas Al-Janoob Iraq for the fifth place tomorrow.
Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar), initially a championship contender, lost to Gas Al-Janoub and Foolad Sirjan in the preliminary stage, securing their only win against Kam Air. The Qataris were defeated by Jakarta in the quarter-finals, leading them to compete for the fifth to eighth places. Today, they secured their second win in the tournament by defeating the Kuwaiti representative.
Sporting Club (Kuwait) experienced three losses in the preliminary stage against representatives from Kazakhstan, Indonesia, and Iran (Shahdab Yazd). They were defeated by Foolad Sirjan Iranian in the first knockout stage, preventing them from reaching the top four, and today they faced their fifth defeat.
The Kuwaiti players started the first set strongly, keeping pace with their opponents. A few individual errors from the Qatari players allowed the Kuwaiti team to win the set 25-23.
In the second set, the Qatari team increased their point difference from the start, leaving the Kuwaiti team with no chance. The experienced Al-Rayyan team relied on their seasoned players to win the set 25-15.
The third set saw a balanced competition between the Qatari and Kuwaiti representatives, but the Qataris ultimately prevailed, winning the set 25-15 and pushing the match to the fourth set.
In the fourth set, the Qatari team continued their dominance, showing better coordination and strong defense and receptions, ultimately winning the set 25-19 and securing the match victory.
As a result, Al-Rayyan Sports Club (Qatar) and Gas Al-Janoob (Iraq) will compete for the fifth place tomorrow. Meanwhile, Kam Air Afghanistan and Sporting Club Kuwait will compete for the seventh place in the continuation of the tournament.
The match was officiated by Hamed Aghabrarari from Afghanistan and Akhmetov Aidos from Kazakhstan as the first and second referees, respectively, and was held with around 1,000 spectators at Shahdab Yazd’s exclusive stadium.
