Shahdab Claims Second Victory Over Pavlodar on the Path to World Championship
In their second match at the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, Shahdab Yazd secured a victory against the team from Kazakhstan.
According to the communications department of the Volleyball Federation, the second day of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Monday, September 9) with four matches held at the 6,000-seat Shahediyeh Hall in Yazd.
The teams of Shahdab Yazd (Iran) and Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan) faced off at 5 PM in the third match of the day, where Shahdab’s players, under the guidance of coach Rahman Mohammadirad, triumphed with a score of 3-1.
Shahdab initially struggled in the first set, losing 25-22, allowing the Kazakh team to gain an early advantage. However, Shahdab bounced back in the subsequent sets, winning 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20, thereby earning six points with two victories.
The teams that reach the finals of this competition will secure a spot in the global championships, and both Iranian representatives prioritize obtaining this opportunity.
The starting lineup for Shahdab included Ilshan Davoodipour, Amir Ghafour, Morteza Sharifi, Ali Osman Faryad, Masoud Gholami, Erfan Norouzi, and Mohammadreza Moazzen.
Dressed in black uniforms, Shahdab faced off against the red-clad Kazakh team. The match began with Shahdab taking an early lead; however, Pavlodar quickly caught up and ultimately won the first set 25-22.
In the second set, Shahdab showcased superior gameplay, establishing a three-point lead. Despite Pavlodar’s attempts to catch up, Shahdab maintained their advantage and won the set 25-18 after forcing Pavlodar’s coach to call a timeout at 12-9.
In the third set, Shahdab continued to apply pressure with effective serves and maintained a two to three-point lead throughout, ultimately winning 25-17.
At the start of the fourth set, good serves and skilled plays from Shahdab led to an early score of 6-2, prompting Pavlodar’s coach to take his first timeout. The set continued with a significant lead for Shahdab, who concluded the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.
The officiating for this match was handled by Moussa Salim Aziz from Iraq as the first referee and Faisal Alshamiri from Kuwait as the second referee.
Shahdab Yazd played before a packed audience at the Shahediyeh Hall, filled with spectators of all ages.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, September 10), Shahdab Yazd will face Sporting Club (Kuwait) at 5 PM in their final group-stage match.
