Shahdab & Gonbad Keep Hopes of Advancing to the Semifinal

Tehran, Iran, February 26, 2021 – Yazd Shahdab & Gonbad Shahrdari revived their hope to get into the semifinal round by making up their first loss against their opponents.

Gonbad Shahrdari and Yazd Sahdab both suffering their first loss at the respective hands of their opponents the previous day, played a must-win match on Friday to revive hope of advancing to the semifinals.

Gonbad Shahrdari could survive from a sturdy challenge against Urmia Shahrdari to put it past in hard-fought four-setter 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Tall and powerful Edris Daneshfar was on fire throughout the game, contributing a fantastic 20 points to Gonbadi side’s victory including 17 attacks from 27 attempts, while Masoud Gholami led Urmia Shahrdari with 14 points including 5 kills.

Urmia Shahrdari and Gonbad Shahrdari now with 1-1 tie in victory should play the third match on Sunday, February 28 to decide their fate to be the semifinalist.

Yazd Shahdab struggled to beat Amol Labaniat in hard-fought five–set thriller 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12 on their second encounter of playoff. In their previous match, Amol Labaniat prevailed Yazd Shahdab 3-1 but their current loss keeps them waiting for their decisive third match.
