Shahdab Yazd Advances to Semi-Finals with Victory Over Iraqi Opponent
In the third quarter-final match, Shahdab Yazd volleyball team triumphed over their Iraqi rivals, securing a spot in the semi-finals.
According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, the quarter-finals of the 26th Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship continued today (Thursday, September 12) with four matches at Shahdab Yazd’s stadium.
Shahdab Yazd (Iran) faced off against Gas Al-Janoob (Iraq) at 5 PM in the third match of this stage, winning decisively with scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-23, advancing to the semi-finals.
In the first set of this intense match, the Iraqi team initially took the lead in scoring against the Iranian team. However, in a tight and thrilling competition, Shahdab managed to create a point difference and won the first set 25-15 with a 10-point lead.
At the start of the second set, Gas Al-Janoub again took the lead, but Mohammad-Rad’s Player overtook their opponents and finished the set 25-21 in their favor.
In the beginning of the third set, Abbas Abdulkarim, the libero of the Iraqi team, suffered a leg injury and had to leave the game. Despite this, the Iraqi team kept pace with Shahdab in scoring. Ultimately, the host team, Shahdab, with strong defense and good receptions, prevented the Iraqi team from scoring, winning the third set 25-23 decisively.
The starting lineup for Shahdab Yazd in the match against the Iraqi team included captain Masoud Gholami, libero Mohammad Reza Moazen, Ilshan Davoodi Pour, Amir Ghafour, Ali Osman Faryad, Morteza Sharifi, and Erfan Norouzi, who played in orange uniforms against the white-clad Iraqi team.
The match was officiated by Aidos Akhmetov from Kazakhstan as the first referee and Fahd Mohammad Al-Awadi from Qatar as the second referee.
As a result, Shahdab Yazd will face Pavlodar Volleyball Club (Kazakhstan) in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Gas Al-Janoub (Iraq) will compete for fifth to eighth place in the continuation of the tournament.
Sporting Club Kuwait will face Foolad Sirjan Iranian at 8 PM in the last quarter-final match.
