Shahnazi: my guys played tough in this crucial match
The head coach of Iran second crew after beating Thailand said: “I admit that my players had psychological and mental pressure and they played tough in this crucial match.
As the Public Relations of Iran Volleyball Federation Reported, Naser Shanhnazi after the win over the host Thailand said: “Truly, we played a very difficult match today against Thailand. I think Thai players are highly- experienced as they have been playing together for a long time. Therefore, they can coordinate well during the match. In my opinion, Thailand played well against Chinese Taipei as they lost narrowly in five sets and in the match against Kazakhstan, the Thais also performed superbly. As far as I’m concerned, with this great form, Thailand can finish second in Pool A. I admit that my players had psychological and mental pressure and they played tough in this crucial match. it’s very difficult for us to play in this atmosphere when a large crowd are cheering their team. However, when my players could control their emotions, they could also control the match well. I would like to congratulate Thailand and their coach on their great performance against us, and their kind people to create good atmosphere in the hall. After this, we have to focus on our next match against Japan. We will play with more ability and potential against the Japanese. You will see another Iran team with more ability than this match against Thailand”.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s head coach Monchai Supajirakul said, “I think we played a good match against Iran. Our young players Kantapat Koonme and Mawin Maneewong played well in the Thailand senior national team against much stronger rivals Iran. In the third set, we caught Iran at 19-19 and after that lost their concentration and lost some points. In the beginning of the third set, I think Iran started nervously after we won the second set. My team did a very good job. Winning even one set from Iran is a very difficult mission for us. I can’t imagine how many years ago we won a set from Iran. Most of our matches against Iran always ended in straight sets in favor of the Iranians. Our team is a mixture between veterans and young bloods and I think they have a bright future. I am happy with their performance.”
