Sirjan Foulad Keep Hopes of Championship in Iran Men’s Super League Alive
Tehran, Iran, March 14, 2021 – Sirjan Foulad revived their hopes of earning the tile of Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League as they could avenge their first loss to Urmia Shahrdari on Sunday.
In their away match on Friday 12, Sirjan Foulad, the team finishing fourth after the 30-week preliminaries, went down in hard-fought five sets to Urmia Shahrdari in their first final clash.
In the second final match between Urmia Shahrdari and Sirjan Fould, the latter prevailed in straight sets 28-26, 25-22, 25-21 on Sunday.
Tall Pourya Yali was on fire throughout the game to score a game-high 15 points for Urmia Shahrdari including 14 attack kills from 24 attempts, while Saber Kazemi led Sirjan Foulad with 13 points including 12 attacks.
Morteza Akrami and Alireza Gharib whistled this match as the respective first and second referees, while Dr. Alinezhad, the Deputy Minister of Sports Ministry of Iran, IRIVF President Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarzani, along with Dr. Vahid Moradi, the Supreme Advisor of IRIVF watched the match onsite with other VIP guests.
With Sirjan Foulad holding Urmia Shahrdari to a 1-1 draw, the third match between them is set to be held on Tuesday, March 16 to decide the eventual titlist.
