The crowd intimidated Serbia in straight loss over Argentina
Tehran, Iran, July 2, 2016 – Serbia suffered their second straight defeat, in Group 1 of the FIVB World League, going down 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) to Argentina, who were supported by a partisan Iran crowd. Here is the Press Conference held after the match:
Luciano De Cecco, Captain of Argentina: We are very happy with this win. We played a good and aggressive volley. We served well. I think tomorrow’s match against Iran will be difficult due to the crowds.
Julio Velasco, Head coach of Argentina: I agree with my captain. Our serve was good today. We started the match so badly and then begin to play better. I want to thank the Iranian public who supported us. But tomorrow will be different and it is so difficult a match. My players have the opportunity to improve in this condition.
Dragan Stankovic, Captain of Serbia: There is nothing special to say. We did not play well. We start the match very well to the point 6, we could win but after that we stopped and deserved to lose the game.
Head coach of a Serbia, Nikola Garbic: I had better not to say what I feel. I am very disappointed not because of the results but about the way we played. I hope the reason of playing like this is not that we have already qualified to the Final six. We are not at a position to think of who we are playing. We have to carry good approach about every game against every opponent. We need to play with aggression, concentration and determination which did not happen unfortunately tonight. I hope tomorrow we are the same up until against Iran in the third set. We did not play with Atanasijevic as he has some miner injury in his leg and instead we played with Luburic whom we just discovered. He had good performance against Russia, Bulgaria and Iran.
