Urmia Shahrdari a Step Closer to Hand the Trophy
Tehran, Iran, March 12, 2021 –Urmia Shahrdari kicked off their final campaigns in the Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League Away Round at Federation Hall with hard-fought win on Friday.
Urmia Shahrdari, the second-ranked side after the preliminary round get a step closer to be the league titlist by producing a hard-fought 3-2 (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13) win against Sirjan Foulad.
Urmia Shahrdari is to battle the home match of the final round against Sirjan Foulad on Sunday, March 14.
Pourya Yali chipped 19 points including 18 attacks leading Urmia Shahrdari in scoring, while Sirjan’s Kazemi made 22 markers on a losing effort.
For the eventual title, Urmia Shahrdari should gain two wins in a row, where they are due to battle the second win with Sirjan Foulad on Sunday, March 14 in the home round.
According to the format of play in the final round, the two finalists have to contest home-and-away matches. To capture the Super League laurels, the team must win both matches. However, if both teams share one win apiece, the third match will be held on March 16 to decide the eventual winners.
Farhad Shahmiri and Omid Fouladivanda whistled this critical match as the first and second referees respectively.
In set four of the match, Masoud Ghalami of Urmia got injured and could not help his team anymore.
IRIVF President, Dr. Mohammad Reza Davazani watched the match onsite along with other VIP guests.
