AVC Men’s U23 Championship/Uzbekistan Claim 9th Spot at Asian Men’s U23 Championship
Ardabil, Iran, May 7, 2017 – Uzbekistan beat Sri Lanka 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-21) and claimed the ninth spot on the first match of the SMM 2nd Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship at the 6,000-seater Rezazadeh Indoor Stadium.
Rakhimkulov’s players did as the head coach promised after the win against Australia to snatch the 9th place. Uzbek players dominated the whole three sets except from some time between the first and second technical time-out of first set when Sri Lanka could take the lead.
The head coach of Uzbekistan thinks his players deserved more and could earn a better place and said: “Since we once lost Sri Lanka 3-2 in this tournament, we had enough experience to remove our problems. We analyzed them and could take the win hence”.
