WCh QT/All-Star Team of Iran Crushed Korea 3-0
Ardabil, Iran, August 11, 2017 – The All-Star Iran crushed South Korea 3-0 (25-10, 27-25, 25-18)
earning their first victory at FIVB World Qualification Tournament at Rezazadeh 6000-seat Stadium on Second day.
Korea came to the court with yesterday’s loss to Qatar while Iran rested on the first day.
South Korean were paralyzed by the tough blocking system of Iran leading by Farhad Ghaemi in the first set. Iran having the full crowd of 4000 men and 2000 women easily finished the first set 25-10. Korea was not willing to surrender and entered the court with a winning attitude. The Korean with three of their fans reduced the gap showing improvement losing the set 25-27. The third set was similar to the second one as Korea gained confidence how to tackle with the difficulties but Iran did not let them stay in closing the set 25-18.
The top two teams of the Ardabil tournament qualify to the 2018 World Championship, which will be jointly hosted by Italy and Bulgaria next year.
Hosts Italy and Bulgaria, defending champions Poland have direct tickets to the FIVB’s flagship tournament. France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Russia, Serbia, Finland, and Belgium from Europe plus Japan and Australia from Asia have already secured their berths through continental qualifiers.
