WCH QT /Qatar Thrashed Korea in a tie-breaker
Ardabil, Iran, June 8, 2017 – Korea registered their first win at FIVB World Qualification Tournament at Rezazadeh 6000-seat Stadium on Thursday, with the surprising performance of Qatar who played in a clean sweep against Korea and earned a 3-2 victory.
The five-day tournament has served as the Asian qualification round, where only top two out of five participating teams will make the cut for 2018 FIVB Volleyball Championship in Bulgaria & Italy on September 10-30.
In the first two sets, Korea closed the technical time out and took the victory 25-21, and 25-15. Qatar made a come-back in the third set and the tactic changes made by the Italian head coach of Qatar brought back hope to the team supporting by the power attacks of Ratmt Wadidie.
Kim Hocul who took over the team since 2006 made five substitutions but it did not pay off and finally Qatar won the match 3-2.
“We did what we had to but the match was tough”. Said kim Hochul. The head coach of Korea, Mr. Giaccardi believed that the first good step was taken good and expressed his satisfaction to win the Korea for the first time.
