Week 16 – Urmia Shahrdari beat Saipa to move atop in table
Tehran, Iran, December 30, 2020 – The week 16 of the men’s premier league was held with six matches in volleyball Federation Hall and Volleyball House of Tehran with Yazd Shahdab, Urmia Shahrdari, Ardakan Khatam, Tehran Paykan, Amol Haraz Labaniat, and Gonbad Shahrdari recording as the winners.
Urmia Shahrdari beat Tehran Saipa in a thrilling tiebreaker (25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 14-25, 17-15) to move to the top of the Iran Men’s Super League standings.
Week 16 is the new phase of the away round in the preliminaries where Sirjan Foulad finished the first half-season as the champion but in their debut away match lost to Yazd Shahdab 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-17, 25-23) to move a step down in the second place.
The officials of League Organization decided to use vide-check in the second mid-season to assist the referees as the matches were too competitive and controversial in some cases in home round.
Two teams of Sepahan Foulad and Qazvin Shahrdari rested in the first week of away round and the other six encounters made the following results:

Amol Haraz Labaniat b Ramsar Hoursan 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11)

Ardakan Khatam b Urmia Azarbatri 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-20)
Urmia Shahrdari b Tehran Saipa 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 14-25, 17-15)
Gonbad Shahrdari b Varamin Shahrdari 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-17)
Week 17 of the preliminary round – the second week of away matches will continue on Friday, January 01, 2021 in two halls of Volleyball Federation and Volleyball House of Tehran.
The final standings of week 16 is having Urmia Shahrdari, Sirjan Foulad, and Sepahan Foulad in a top-three finish.
